The Pension Trust Fund for Christian Science Nurses is a charity and has a two-fold purpose:

The Financial Support Fund provides help to current and retired Christian Science Nurses.

The Training Fund provides funding for active Christian Scientists who would like to take up Christian Science nursing as a career.

What We Do

As a Financial Support Fund the Trust provides the following financial help to eligible working and retired Christian Science nurses in the UK:

Financial Assistance that is not means tested:

• Up to two weeks’ Christian Science nursing care annually, as needed, in one of the Christian Science Houses or at home in any one-year period
• Rest and Study annually in one of the Christian Science Houses (accommodation only) up to the value of £1,000.
• Christmas gifts to retired Christian Science nurses at the discretion of the Board.

Financial Assistance that is means tested:

• Subscriptions to the Christian Science periodicals
• Moving house or for essential home improvement
• Costs related to travel to and from work
• Air fares for overseas Christian Science nurses to return home or to Association once every 12 months
• Regular monthly payments to retired Christian Science nurses
• Accommodation or living expenses.

Our Training Fund is for trainee Christian Science nurses:

We recognise that the cost of training can be a barrier for those wishing to become Christian Science nurses. With seed funding from The Westminster Fund, we have therefore set up a Christian Science nurses’ Training Fund to support Christian Science nursing activity and healing. This enables members of The Mother Church to prepare for the ministry of Christian Science nursing, or to return to Christian Science nursing after a break.

Financial assistance that is not means tested:

• Travel costs relating to training
• Travelling home or to Association
• Childcare costs relating to training
• Assistance with Class instruction

Financial assistance that is means tested:

• Maintenance costs during training eg car and house.

Please note:  Training and Mentoring costs are now funded by the Westminster Fund and the Christian Science Training Houses apply direct to them for funding.

Please note : Conference Costs for conferences organised by the Christian Science Nurses Association, UK (CSNAUK), the CSNAUK will complete a Trust Brit block application for all attendees.  For Christian Science nursing conferences not arranged by the CSNAUK, the nursing facility to which a CS Nurse (listed or non-listed) is attached will need to complete a Trust Brit application to include each Christian Science Nurse for their attendance.  Private Duty Christian Science Nurses can also ask a Christian Science facility to include their attendance details in the application. This one form, when required, may be shared with the Westminster Fund.  Childcare during a conference can be included on this form.

Working, retired and trainee Christian Science nurses are all invited to apply to the Pension Trust for Christian Science Nurses for financial help via our Administrator, whose contact information is on the right.
